FIVE GETAWAYS NEAR ANTALYA

By on Saturday December 3rd, 2016

No matter how comfortable your all inclusive hotel, no matter how soft your couch and how cold your beer, you have to pull it together and get out of the hotel to discover the places below:

1. MANAGVAT WATERFALLS

Located very close to Side, Manavgat waterfalls become invisible during high water. Entrance to the park has very nominal fee of around 5 TL. Cafes are located in the proximity to the water which makes it a nice place to hide from summer heat.

2. KURSUNLU WATERFALLS

Falling from 18 meter height water splits into several streams and forms seven small lakes. I highly recommend to go there early in the morning to fully enjoy walking around the canyon as it get really crowded in the afternoon.

3. MOUNT CHIMAERA

Leave alone city night life and go to climb the ‘burning mountain’. Before these perpetual gas flames were so huge so the mountain was used as light house. Long before the mountain was a home of monstrous creature with heads of lion and goat and the tail of snake…reminds you anyone? Myth of Chimera is believed to originate from this area.

4. OLYMPOS NATIONAL PARK

Being one of the most important harbors in late Hellenistic period, Olympos still has many things to show. Stay in tree houses, spend your evenings around fire in some of the tavernas, walk around acient city,  go swimming, go rock climbing, or just place your tired body in a hamack and enjoy friendly atmosphere.

5. GEYIKBAYIRI – CLIMBERS PARADISE

The largest climibing area in Turkey with more than 1000 routes is just 26 km from Antalya. The rock wall is almost 4 km long and its heights fluctate between 15 and 50 meter.  Main crags facing the south make Geyikbayiri the third most important spot in Europe for winter climbing.

Thanks to wide attention this ultimate location for camping and sports celebrated its second birthday in 2015 when it was saved following the cancellation of the mining exploration license..
